Jordan
Wayne and Tracy Hogan have been married since 1991 and have two children, Cody and Jordan. Our son, Cody, is 8 years old, has normal hearing, and is in the 3rd grade. He is very active in sports (bowling, baseball, basketball, soccer) and likes video games (Playstation and Gameboy). His favorite hobby is still hanging out with his Pop-Pop ;)
Our daughter, Jordan, is 5 years old and is an IEEEP Pre-K class at a special education center. This fall she will finally enter kindergarten in a regular education elementary school. Jordan has a moderately-severe sensorineural hearing loss and wears hearing aids in both ears. Jordan also wears a loop FM system at school (provided by the county), as well as a sound field system that was purchased by the school. She receives services from a hearing itinerant, speech pathologist and has a Cued Speech Transliterator with her all day. Jordan was identified at approximately 2 ½ years old, and received her hearing aids after all the testing was completed. Jordan is shy at first, but warms up quickly, she loves to play with baby dolls, her phonics laptop and sports.
What we would like to see out of the group:
· More interaction with kids who have similar problems.
· Information to be used for all of our children's benefits (in
school and out).
· To help other families who are just starting the process.
· To help set up procedures in the county so that people do not
have to fight for what the children should already have - before
kids fail, not after.
